I created my card for the challenge using one of my favorite sets - Music of the Heart. I stamped the music using brown ink directly onto the background paper from the Minuet collection by Memory Box. For the ribbon, I decided it was finally time to use some of the HUGE spool of seam binding I have, and try my hand at dying it to match. I used the Ballet Blue classic re-inker, adding a few drops to some water. I let the binding soak for a few minutes, then rinsed it out. I think it turned out very pretty! And I love how easy it is to tie nice bows with the soft texture of the seam binding. I finished the card off with some cute little star buttons from my stash, attached with glue dots.

Shine Shine Shine from Ippity

Today I'd like to share another card I designed for my card club last weekend. This is a card I've been thinking about for awhile, and finally found the paper I liked with it. I love the motivational theme of this set - {...Shine Shine Shine from the Ippity July release. It has a wonderful vintage feel, don't you think?

This is a very quick and easy card, yet has an elegant feel. Just stamp three of the lamp images in black ink, mat on black card stock and add the patterned paper of your choice. I finished it off with some crocheted ribbon. I added the sentiment on the front, but it could also just have a sentiment inside that fits the occasion.

Skiing Penguin?????

Oh my goodness... it is already November and time to get ready for the holidays! And of course, that means Christmas Cards! Ippity's November release includes 2 new winter themed/holiday sets : Pain and Pride and Warm Wishes. As soon as I saw this little penguin in the two pain set, I loved him because he skis just like me (on his behind!) We made this card for my card club this last Saturday:

I especially love the little birdie who has come to help him out:) To make this card, we just stamped the penguin and colored him in with some markers. The snowflakes are embossed with a sparkling embossing powder with stickles added in the centers.

Time for a butterfly!

Hello! I sure hope everyone is enjoying the summer. The summer weather has finally arrived here, and I have been enjoying our sun the last week:) After some traveling for work and a little for pleasure... I finally had some time to play with some new Ippity this weekend. The card I am sharing today is made with one of the new releases from last month Thankful For You and although you can't really see the sentiment in the picture, it is from Now and Always.

I've had the Tim Holtz rosette die for awhile, so I decided it was time to get it out and give it a try. I love how easy this die makes it to make beautiful rosettes. I made this one using paper from the Oxford collection by Basic Grey and matted it on an eyelet circle nestie cut from bashful blue cardstock. I used my new Sky ink from Amuse as well - I love how this ink works with solid images, and the Sky color works really well with SU's Bashful Blue.

How about some Vintage {IPPITY}

Time to share some more Ippity with you all! Today I am sharing a card made with another of the Ippity June release kits - New Season, New Wonder. I heard on the news this week that eating apples (with the skins) really does have health benefits. So I decided if one a day will keep the doctor away, why not three?

These stamps have such a wonderful vintage feel, I thought it was time to finally break out my Tim Holtz inks to use... and I love how well this ink works with these stamps! And for some reason after I made this card I had a craving for apple pie.....!!! So here are the details:

More new {IPPITY} fun!

Hello again:) It is time to share another card using the Ippity June release stamps. This time I used the new Friends + Flowers = Priceless kit. When I first saw this kit, it just screamed out SUMMER to me, so I had to create a bright and cheerful card with that summery kind of feel. This would have been a little easier it the sun had actually been at least peeking through our cloud cover... but that just doesn't always happen in these parts. However, I think I achieved the affect I was going for in spite of the clouds.

I love the mix and match flowers, stems and leave in this kit, and some great sentiments too! I used two different embosslits for the butterflies and buttons, and embossed the card front using the Butterflies folder from Crafts-Too. I love this color combo for a Summery feel. Here are the details:

Ippity June Release

Hello everyone! I am back from a visit with my Mom and a quick trip down to Vancouver for a visit with my Brother and Sister in Law, and a very fun trip to Craft Warehouse. I returned home to my new Ippity waiting for me, and as promised have created a card to share.

I love this saying from the new My True Joy Kit. And the flower just call out for some fun paper piecing too. The paper is from My Minds Eye Lime Twist - I love the bright colors in this line! This is a quick and easy card to make to brighten someone's day.

Today I am sharing a card I designed for my card club to make this past Saturday. It is made using the Party Hat Wishes stamps. This is such a fun set, and it just calls out for some bright fun colors. I pulled out my Basic Grey Urban Prairie paper and found this fun flower patterned paper. Some black gingham ribbon added the final touch (in my stamping room a card just isn't complete without it - I'm a bit of a ribbon addict!)

Why are masuline cards so difficult!

Masculine cards... I find them so difficult.... I love ribbon, and include it on almost every card I make. But it just doesn't seem to fit on masculine cards, which is one of the reasons I find them so difficult. They just never quite look finished without that ribbon. But now I have discovered bakers twine! This wonderful stuff fits quite well with a masculine theme. When I add a bit of twine I feel like the card is actually finished off, so all is well in my little stamping world:)

I am always in need of some masculine birthday cards this time of the year as 2 of my 3 brothers have birthdays in the beginning of march. So this year, I decided it was time to pull out my Ippity Authentic man set.... I just love the car in this set! I also just got Graphic 45 Proper Gentlemen paper, and was itching to use it. I think it worked quite well with this image. Hope my big brother likes it to... but no peaking till you get it in the mail!

{Ippity} Hop Monday and a challenge!

Happy Ippity Hop Monday! The card I am posting today is using what I think is one of the cutest Ippity Sets - Fishy Philosophy. I made this card for the Ippity Hippity Hop Weekly challenge for week 1 and 2 of February - sketch and color. You can read more details about the challenge on SCS HERE. To make this card, I embossed the seaweed with clear EP before sponging the aqua ink over the top. You can't see the sparkle in this picture, but there thicker lines on the fishies are done with black stickles, giving them some flashy style!

Hippity Hopping on Monday!

Good monday morning everyone! We are heading into a hectic time of year getting ready for the holidays, but I hope you will still be able to stop by and relax for a few minutes while I share some creations with you. It is time for another Hippity Hop Monday with Ippity... and today I am sharing a card with one of my favorite sets from the recent new release - Farm Fresh.

Isn't this rooster a great image? I decided to go with the good morning sunshine theme throughout the card, using the inverted circles nesties and the Rays embossing folder from Tim Holtz to create the rising sun. I used dew drop ink pads to rub across the embossed image to add color to the sun's rays. I finished it off with some red gingham ribbon for an additional country touch. I've been having lots of fun with tags lately, so decided to make some birthday tags using this fun set and our new paper pad from Cosmo Cricket - Circa 1934. I thought the letter and number papers coordinated perfectly with the adorable eye chart in this set.

My card for today uses a set from the most recent release called Quotes A La Happy - I can't help smiling whenever I see this set, and with the dreary labor day weekend weather we've had here in the Northwest, I thought it was time to brighten up the day with a sunny card:

I love these little birdies and the sun from this set - and thought they matched up with the Earth Love paper from Cosmo Cricket perfectly. I cut out the sun with the inverted scallop circle nestie, and ended up with a card that brightened up my day, and I hope yours too!

H{Ippity} Hop Monday

Happy Monday everyone! It's time for the Ippity Blog Hop, and a chance for me to play some more with the stamps from the Spring Release. I have been itching to try out Season of Joy with my nestabilities, so I decided it was time!

It is so cool that this set coordinates with nestabilities labels 10 and 13. I used Labels 10 for this card. And while the set comes with many very nice Christmas sentiments, the you can of course mix this set with any sentiment for any occasion - I love it! I used PIT white cardstock for the base card, and ran it through the Big Shot using the Sizzix snowflake folder. I love the sizzix embossing folders for this because they are large enough to emboss the whole base of the card. Although you can't see it well in the picture, I added some shimmer by applying Smooch Spritz to the base, and the snowflake is coated with both Crystal Effects and stickles. Sparkling Butterfly

Today I'd like to share another sparkling card. This is made with another Peddlers Pack background stamp - the Butterfly Background. Have I mentioned I love these background stamps? There are so many ways to use them. For this card, I decided to highlight the beautiful butterfly:

I began by using my new fav ink - Palette Burnt Umber - to stamp the background on SU Barely Banana paper. I am so sad that this color is being discontinued by SU - it is one of my go to colors for springy cards, so I'll be stocking up! I then stamped the background again and cut out the butterfly. I used copics to color in the butterfly, then added glitter highlight on the inner portions of the wings. The body and other highlights are coated with crystal effects to give them some shine. After a bit of drying time, I simply attached the colored butterfly over the stamped one in the background by using a glue dot in the center. The crystal effects give the wings just enough stiffness so that I could bend them a bit and have them keep their shape. This card can be used for so many occasions... I am thinking I'm going to have to make some more with different color combos... purples, pinks... so many possibilities! Thanks for stopping by to check out my creation... and happy stamping!

My April new supply challenge

Wow - I didn't realize how long it has been since I posted! It's been a busy few weeks - did a little traveling during spring break, and some stamping last weekend! A friend and I have discovered a wonderful store in Beaverton, Oregon called Peddlers Pack. They not only have their own wonderful stamps, but a store filled with all kinds of fun goodies. I am totally in love with their background stamps, and thanks to some samples posted in their store, had the opportunity to use some of them with a new technique. I have been wanting to try stamping with acetate for quite awhile, so I couldn't wait to make these cards:

This first card uses the Peddlers Pack Dragonfly Background stamp. It is first stamped on acetate using Stazon black ink. The dragonflies are done in blue and aqua art glitter. This affect is achieved by applying glue and glitter to the back of the acetate, working one colors section at a time and allowing drying time in between colors. I allowed this to dry overnight, then the next day stamped the image again on white cardstock and colored the background with copics. I then just lined up the acetate over the stamped image and attached with glue dots in the corners.

The second card uses Peddlers Pack Dazzling Daisies background. Using the same technique as with the dragonflies, I applied yellow glitter tot he flower centers, green glitter to the stems and white glitter for the daisy petals. The acetate is then attached to yellow Pearl Paper using glue dots. The really cool thing with the Pearl Paper is that is subtly changes colors as the light hits at different angles... very pretty affect! The third card uses the Peddlers Pack Koi background stamp. I used the same technique with the glitter, using black on the fish as well. For some reason I couldn't seem to get a good photo showing how sparkly they are, but you can use your imagination! It is again mounted on Pearl Paper, but a lighter color that shows shades of greens and purples when the light hits... you really have to see this one in person to get the full effect. One word of warning if you try this technique... you will get glitter everywhere! But I really think the final result makes it all worthwhile:)

For today's card I decided it was time to use the one set I haven't played with yet from the last releas - Love in Return. This is a great set for cardmaking, scrapbooking and lots of other projects too!

To make this card, I started with some paper out of the Basic Grey Wisteria paper pack, and matched it up with SU Basic Grey, Eggplant Envy and Lovely Lilac. The Butterflies are cut using the Beautiful Wings Sizzlet, and I matted the circle using the inverted scallop nestability. Some adhesive pearls finish it off. H{Ippity} Hop Monday and My Monthly Challenge - 3/22/2010

Happy Monday! It's time for the Ippity Blog Hop once again - don't forget to check out all the great Ippity inspiration on all the blogs listed HERE.

I have 2 cards to share with you today, both with a Spring/Easter theme, but very different cards as you will see! The first is using the gorgeous cross from the Ippity What Matters Most set:

I love how this cross fits in the Nestie Label 6 shape. I cut both sizes out of white cardstock, and then used the larger nestie as a stencil to sponge the frame using Palette Burnt Umber ink. I also used the Nestie Fancy Label set to cut out the brown scroll behind the cross. The Martha Stewart Iron Gate punch was a perfect match, so I used it to add the detail at the top and bottom of the card, and topped it all off with three flowers punched out of yellow. The patterned paper is from the SU Chocolate Chip Print Patterns. This is a simple, yet elegant card to make, and the best part is I can make multiples to send out to friends and family for Easter very quickly! (hey you friends and family who happen to be reading this... pretend you're surprised when you get this card, ok?)

My next card is one I made as part of a challenge I issued to myself earlier this year - once I month I pledged to get out a brand new supply or tool, something I "had to have" but has just been sitting here waiting for me to have time to use it. So here is my challenge card for March:

The card uses 2 Ippity sets: Sweet Thoughts of Spring and What Matters Most . The new supply I used on this card is Smooch Paint. Now I have to admit, a large part of the reason I bought this paint was because it is just so darn cute in those little fingernail polish bottles... what a way to make a buying decision, right? But I'm sure glad I did , because I loved using it! I used Taffy to color in the hearts on this cute little chick, and Taffy and Sugarplum on the flowers. I also covered the body of the chick using moonlight to give the little guy an "all over" glow. What I love about this paint is it is both shimmery and opaque - so even though I stamped the stem of the flowers using Burnt Umber, I was able to use Green Apple paint over it to turn the leaves shimmer green. The brush applicators are great too - pointed tips so you can apply it to very small areas, and stiff enough that I could use the side to rub it across the chick very quickly. I had loads of fun making this cute little springy card! Other supplies:

H{Ippity} Hopping towards St. Paddy's Day!

The card I am sharing today is in celebration of St Patrick's day and that little bit of Irish that I think is in all of us this time of the year:)

This card features my favorite butterfly from the Ippity set Devoted. You can't really tell in this picture, but I embossed the butterfly in gold on green paper, then cut out the wings. The wings are attached over a second embossed image on the white cardstock using a glue dot in the center. I stamped the background using the Shamrock Background from Peddler's pack with Artichoke ink over Celery cardstock. The blessing sentiment stamp is from Waltzing mouse - and is my toast to all of my family, friends and fellow crafters this year! May the Luck O' the Irish be with you all!

It's Time to H{Ippity} Hop! 3/8/10

That's right, it's another H{Ippity} hop Monday! And today, I wanted to share a quick and simple card using the Regal Greetings set from the new Winter 2010 release. I made this card in 5 minutes - and I love that this could be used for many different occasions by simply changing the sentiment.

To make this card I first used my Martha Stewart Iron Gate border punch along the bottom of the white cardstock. I then stamped the flourish from Regal Greetings on the top using Palette Noir ink and added a few self adhesive pearls. I chose the sentiment I liked, and again stamped using Palette Noir, matted on black and attached using dimensionals. And I was done! Quick, easy and elegant. Happy Birthday Partner!

Growing up as the youngest of four children, and the only girl, I endured a lot of teasing from my big brothers. Now that we are all "grown up" I can never pass up the chance at getting back just a little with birthday cards each year that gently (hehehehe) point out the fact that as we all get older, they will always be older then me;) Two of my brothers have birthdays the first week of March, so this weekend was masculine birthday card time. So today, I thought I would share one of them:

I saw this stamp by Art Impressions in a local store this past year and knew immediately that I had to have it for my youngest big brother - the John Wayne lover of the family. I colored him in with my copics and grunged up the edges a bit by sponging on some ink. I used the cuttlebug star embossing folder and an SU star brad to give it a sheriff feel, and framed the image using nesties labels 8. And just in case my big bro missed the "old" cowboy look, I stamped the envelope with one of my favorite postmark stamps from inkadinkado...."Rush Delivery - Addressee is getting old fast!" Luckily, everyone in my family has the same sense of humor, huh? Time to H{Ippity} Hop! 3/1/10

It's Monday, which means it's time for another H{Ippity} Blog Hop! And it was such a beautiful sunny day here yesterday, I was in the mood for a card with a spring feel.... and here it is:

I have loved this butterfly image since I first saw the new Ippity What Matters Most kit... and I love this sentiment too! I think it really portrays the fresh energy of spring. I used an aqua brush and SU classic ink to watercolor the butterflies and added a prima flower using a dimensional. I decided to keep the bling to a minumum to keep the soft feel of the card, something that is very difficult for me to do! It's H{Ippity} Hop Monday! 2/22/10

It's Monday, and normally I hate mondays! But today is different, because I am able to join the H{Ippity} Blog Hop for the first time! I've been having lots of fun creating all week with my new Ippity kits, and today's project uses another kit from the Winter 2010 release - Regal Greetings.

I love the elegant look of this set, and decided to pair it with the gorgeous paper in the DCWV La Creme stack. In order to get a really solid black to match the velvet pattern on the paper, I embossed the chandelier and the frame in black. I then cut out the frame with nesties label 4. I created the corner embellishment by stamping with the ornate square from the set, cutting out the square and then cutting diagonally to make the triangle. I attached a prima flower with a black crystal in the center to finish it off. Dimensionals pop up the sentiment and corner embellishment. Other supplies: SU black organdy ribbon, Palette Noir Hybrid ink, versamark ink and black detail embossing powder.

{Ippity} Where you Should Be

Oh such a beautiful weekend here in the Pacific Northwest - lots of beautiful sunshine! I hope everyone had an enjoyable weekend - I enjoyed mine because I had a chance to play some more with my new Ippity! Today I decided to play along with this week's sketch challenge on Splitcoaststampers... you can find the challenge HERE if you'd like to play along too!

So, for my card I pulled out my new {Ippity} Where You Should Be kit.

The beautiful leaves in this set reminded me of my DCWV Latte stack, so I pulled it out to find this fun leaf print paper. I used my nestabilities labels 1 to cut the squares and then stamped the leaves using SU Certainly Celery and Always Artichoke ink. The sentiment is stamped in Palette Burnt Umber and has some more leaves embossed in irredescent ice embossing powder in the background. I usually make my cards A2 sized, but I just couldn't bring myself to lose any of this fun print, so this card is 5x7. Other supplies: SU Celery wide grosgrain ribbon, dew drops

{Ippity} Philosophy

It was a bright sunny day today here in the Northwest - a perfect Friday, and the bright sun put me in the mood for a bright and happy card. And I had the perfect set - the new Ippity Fishy Pholosophy.

I love the bright colors in the Basic Grey Lime Rickey collection, and I thought this circle pattern was perfect for a fun fishy card! I created the background for the sentiment by stamping the coral using versamark ink on SU Certainly Celery cardstock. I also stamped the leaves to create the pattern on the bottom of card using SU Pumpkin Pie ink. Then it was time to create the fishies - I wanted to make them look as if they were swimming across the card. I started by stamping them with Palette Noir Hybrid ink and cutting them out. I then coated them with crystal effects which not only gave them a shiney finish, but also stiffened them so that I could bend them for dimension. I atached them with some dimensionals, and finished the card off with some crystal brads. This card makes me smile, and I hope it brings some sunshine into everyone's day! Happy Stamping!

Soft Suede Moon Beams... more new {Ippity}

Time to share some more new Ippity with everyone! I was intrigued by the weekly color challenge on Splitcoaststampers this week, so decided it was time for me to participate. The colors are Soft Suede, Perfect Plum and Pale Plum. This combo really took me out of my color comfort zone, but it was fun to play with.... so here is the result:

I used 2 Ippity sets on this card - a new one from the Winter 2010 release called Moon Beam and Heart Strings, and the cow is from a set in the first release - Simply Home. I've been wanting to use this cow since I got the set, but just haven't been able to come up with the right card. He finally made his (oops, I guess that would be her) debut! It's hard to tell in the picture, but the the stars and moons sparkle when you see it in person. I stamped the image in clear versamark ink, then sprinkled on white embossing powder, followed by Irridescent Ice embossing powder for just a touch of sparkle, as if they are twinkling in the sky. Other Supplies: Palette Burnt Umber ink, SU Soft Suede Ribbon and Earth Elements button, crimper

And here is a picture of the complete set - I love the versatility of all the sentiments in this one. It can be used for everything from babies, to valentines, to congratulations cards. Stay tuned for some more samples later this week... and happy stamping!

And now to share some of the fun I've had creating with these new sets this weekend!
The first set I had to try out is called What Matters Most - I fell in love with these images immediately! I am a sucker for butterflies, birds, flowers, trees and sweet sentiments - and this set has them all!

To make this card I began by using my new Palette Burnt Umber ink so I could check out how it performs when I color with copic markers. I am happy to report I had no issues with smearing at all! I used my new Martha Stewart grass punch with some paper patterned papper from the SU Sweet Pea paper pack and popped it all up with some dimensionals for a 3D affect (no special glasses needed!) And of course, I had to add a bit of bling on the butterflies using stickles for a finishing touch. Other supplies used: Nesties Labels 1, SU Barely Banana and Chocolate Chip cardstock, adhesive gem heart.

Those of you who know me IRL, know that I have been involved in music since I was a child. So of course this next set is a perfect fit for me! And with this adorable bird added for good measure, I couldn't resist it!

For this card, I decided to try out my brand new DCWV Cafe Mediterranean stack. Love the bright cheerful colors in this paper! I paper pieced the bird on top of the music script stamps with SU Apricot Appeal ink onto ivory paper. I love how this songbird turned out! Other supplies: Pallete Noir ink, SU Apricot Appeal and Cool Carribean cardstock, SU apricot grosgrain ribbon.

The final set I'll share in this post is an adorable springtime set called Sweet Thoughts of Spring. When I first saw this set I immediately considered it an cute Easter set, but after playing with it I realize it is much more versatile than just Easter. It will make adorable invitations, baby cards and just thinking of you cards as well.

So with Spring in the air here in Seattle (our Rhodies are blooming already!) I pulled out my Basic Grey Urban Prairie paper. It coordinates well with SU Pink Pirhouette, and I just think this bunnie with his cute little heart bellie button is a keeper! I added just a bit of color to the bunnie using Pink Pirhouette ink and a blender pen, then sponged a bit more around the edges. Other supplies: SU oval and scallop oval punches, SU scallop trim border punch, adhesive gem hearts.

A valentine and a challenge for me and you

I have decided on a New Year's stamping resolution (I know, I know... but better late than never, right?) Anway, I decided I'd better post it because then I will be much more likely to actually keep it, because my friends will be able to tell if I am! So, as I organized my stamp room over the past year, I discovered so many things I have purchased but never had the time to really play with.... you know the things I mean... those things you just couldn't wait to get that then sit there on a shelf or in a drawer waiting patiently for us to find the time to figure them out. So I have decided that at least once a month I will use one of these poor unloved products, and post my creation on my blog. I will also post how to use the product with the hope that anyone else who has one sitting unloved will get it out and use it too! If you do, please post it on your blogs and leave a comment so I can come check out your creation as well.... deal?

So, now on to my post for today. The cover of the latest Take Ten magazine really caught my eye with the non-traditional color combination on some valentine cards. So, I decided I would create some Valentines using the same colors.... Red, Turquoise and Black... and here they are!

Technically, these don't really qualify for my challenge of trying new things... but they almost do, so I'm going to count it! The heart nesties were new and so was the Inkadinkado Lots of Love set (but both belong to a friend, not me!) The EK success heart chain punch was brand new and mine, and even though I've used many border punches, I think I'll cheat just a bit and call this my January catch up challenge since the color combo was new too. I promise to really use new stuff for the rest of the year! I think this is a great color combo for a change from the "usual" valentine.

Brimming with Love

Today's card uses an adorable kitty stamp that Vicki brought along with her for a visit last weekend. I couldn't resist making a card with this cute fella peeking over the brim! It is a Penny Black stamp - Brimming with Love.... Ain't it cute? I like this one because it makes a good valentine, but also just a great everyday card too. I used my new Basic Grey Sugar Rush paper on this one, along with SU Pretty in Pink cardstock. The sentiment is from my Gel-A-Tins Coffee Break set, and I added some prima flowers and Amuse polka dot sheer ribbon to finish it off. Hope this little guy brings a smile to you today just like he did for me:)

Is it really February already? It's been awhile since I posted, and actually it's been awhile since I've stamped! It was a sad week last week, as we said goodbye to one of our kitties - Tabbytha. She was a good kitty, and we will miss her. On a brighter note though, my stamping buddy came up for a visit this last weekend, and we had lots of stamping fun! So, I thought I'd share some of the cards we made with you all this week. Here is one we'll be making at my card club this Saturday:

I recieved a birthday card using this image from an SCS friend last year, and fell in love with this little cheerleader turtle! So, next time I ordered from Stamping Bella, this stamp was the first on my list.

The paper is from the SU Sweet Pea paper stack. I colored the turtle with SU old olive ink and a blender pen, added red rose using the SU marker... and of course had to add some bling with stickles! A nestie classic scallop circle cut out of Taken with Teal and SU Saffron ribbon finished it off. I think we'll have fun making this one on Saturday!

Time for some Ippity!

This last Saturday I had my first card clubs of the new year, and we celebrated by trying out some of the new Ippity sets. It was lots of fun watching everyone discover these great stamps and as always, they came up with some great designs on their own too! Here are a few of the cards I had as samples:
This card is made with stamps from the Devoted kit. I love this whimsical butterfly! I used SU designer paper and Bashful Blue cardstock. The butterfly is stamped in Night of Navy ink and the leaves in Artichoke. I added some bling with stickles on the butterfly and attached it to the card in it's center using a glue dot. The sentiment is punched using SU's modern label punch and flanked by some self adhesive jewels for a bit more of that "bling" factor (of course!) This is one of those cards that can be so versatile, and you can change the feel of it just by changing the colors you use.

This card is s sweet valentine's using Straight from the Heart and My Mind's Eye patterned paper. The cardstock is Barely Banana, Sage Shadow and Riding Hood Red from SU. I colored this image using a blender pen and reinkers for a softer watercolor effect that I think fits this card very well.... I just love those cute little blue birds!

Masculine cards are always a challenge for me, but I like to provide at least one for the group each month. This card uses stamps from Just Wanted to Say and patterned paper from SU. The cardstock is River Rock and Not quite Navy - 2 colors I rarely use, but work well for a more masculine look. I finished it off with some chord instead of ribbon - very manly!

Calendars to ring in the new year!

Happy 2010! It's amazing how fast the years go by.... it doesn't seem all that long ago that we were celebrating the new Millenium. Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

For my first post of the new year, I thought I'd share a Christmas gift I made this year. I decided it was time to use some of my stash of Amuse stamps (I must admit that many had never seen ink...) and make some calendars. The size and style of Amuse is perfect for calendars, and I had so much fun finding the stamps to go with each month. Because I wanted to display the calendar using a Creative Memories magnetic display frame, I ended up creating a monthly banner that hangs below the calendar, giving me lots of room to stamp! I used seasonal trees as an ongoing theme, and pulled it all together with Amuse colored gingham cardstock as a mat.... so here is the final product!
I also had lots of fun finding the "doodads" (my Mom's word, otherwise known as brads) to go with the months too. I wanted to show you each month, but didn't want to post 12 pics, so in the interest of saving space, I've taken pics of just the banners for the rest of the year, but each banner also has a matching calendar:

I sure hope my family enjoys these calendars as much as I enjoyed making them. But even if they don't, the great thing about this gift is they still have a nice magnetic display frame to put pictures in - with our without the monthly banners. The only problem is now I still need to make one for myself!

That Darn Christmas Cat!

As promised... today is Christmas Fluffles Day! This kitty is so much like our Napo (short for Napolean.) Always getting into mischieve.... and as a reward this Christmas, Santa has left him nothing but coal in his stocking!

The background paper on this card is from the Basic Grey Eskimo Kisses pad, and the leaves are punched from SU Garden Green using a Martha Stewart punch. The coloring is with copics, and the ribbon is retired SU Riding Hood Red satin ribbon. I am going to be so sad when I run out of Riding Hood Red ribbon and paper - it is my favorite red!

The next card has fluffles consoling himself after receiving his coal by eating everything in site (which I would never do of course;))

This background paper is from the DCWV Christmas Stack, and it is paired with SU Green Galore. The cute polka dot ribbon is from Amuse.

After gorging himself, it is time for a little exercise for Fluffles!

So here he is dashing through the snow! I used nesties to cut both the circle and scallop mat (pettite scallop cirle.) You can't really see the shimmer on the backgound in this picture, but after embossing SU Ballet Blue, the cardstock is spritzed with a mixture of SU Shimmer paint and alcohol. It really gives it a subtle shimmer that I love! Just put a small amount of shimmer paint (about 1/2 tsp) in a spray bottle, then add rubbing alcohol (about 1/4 of a spray bottle), shake and spray. It dries really fast due to the alcohol, so you can make your card right away.

The sentiment on this card is from Amuse, and i punched out using the SU modern label punch. I had to add a bit of extra sparkle with the snowflakes of course!

And for the last Fluffles card, it's time to do a bit of baking:

Back to the Riding Hood Red cardstock and ribbon for this card, and the background is from Debbie Mumm. I cut the mats from SU Old Olive and Riding Hood red using the nesties Labels. Maybe if Fluffles gives some of his baking as gifts instead of eating it all he'll get something other than coal in his stocking next year!

Baby it's cold outside!

So, here in Seattle we are having some cold cold (at least for us) weather! So I thought it would be fitting to show you some of the snowy cards I made last week, with a blue theme! The first is this cute Penny Black Snowman:

I colored this cute guy using copic markers. The background paper is from the DCWV holiday collection winter matstack I picked up at Joann's (with a coupon of course!) The cute little sentiment is from Amuse. I added just a touch of sparkle with the plastic snowflakes attached with some glue dots. Can't you just feel the icy snow?

The second card uses Stamps Happen Festive Snowmen:

I love these guys gazing up at the falling snowflakes! I used copics again to color them, and this time punched out the Amuse sentiment using SU's modern label punch, attaching it to the card with dimensionals. The bling is added by using a silver reflecting snowflake that catches the light.

And last (but not least of course!) is this cute little chubby bird going for a snowflake ride:

This stamp is Amuse's Chubby Bird, and is included in their Peace and Cheer clear set. The sentiment is from the same set. The background paper is once again from the DCWV Christmas stack. I also used SU's Bashful Blue, Almost Amethyst and Lovely Lilac cardstock. There are lots of punches used on this card too! The snowflake is a Marvy mega punch, the sentiment is and mat is punched out using SU's oval punches, and the Border is SU's eyelet border punch. I wish there was a punch for the chubby birdie too, but unfortunately I just had to cut him out, color him with copics and attached to the center of the snowflake using a dimensional. Think he's enjoying his ride?

Ippity Christmas Card

Hello everyone! I am back in town after visiting with family after Thanksgiving. I also had the opportunity to stop and visit a friend for a couple of days on my way home, and we spent the time stamping Christmas cards - we had a blast! So I thought I'd share some of the cards with you, starting with this one I made with my new Ippity kit - Kissmas and Mistloe.

I just loved this DCWV paper when I saw it - such pretty colors! It coordinated perfectly with SU Orchid Opulance and Positively Pink. I cut out the trees and matted them on black, then added the ribbon around the trunks. The sparkle is stickles added to the snowflakes for the finishing touch. A very fun card:) Stay tuned this week as I will be sharing some more Christmas cards!

Another Thursday with a twist!

Time for another Shirley's 2 girls Twisted Thursday sketch challenge! The twist this week is to use twine or raffia on the card.... so here's what I came up with!

I am still in a Halloween kind of mood, so decided to use S2G's Be-Witch. I started with SU's Barely Banana as my base, and added some Gable Green for contrast. I thought this witchy lady would look good in some purple with her little grey kitty, so pulled out the copic markers to color her up. The spider is from Inkadinkado, and the web paper from the Basic Grey Eerie pack. Although you can't really tell in the picture, I couldn't resist adding a bit of bling with black stickles on the spider (or course!) Hope you like her!

Simple yet elegant

This is one of the cards I made while at the Camano Craft Hideaway. We decided we needed a thank you card for our hostess, and I made a couple of these with different color combos. It's a quick and easy card.

First, I used SU's Medallian stamp as the base. I stamped in Ballet Blue craft ink, then embossed with clear ep. Then it was just a matter of using the Daisy 2 Sizzix die for the flowers, and adding the button and ribbon. A small sentiment could be added along the bottom or top for almost any occasion, and playing around with the colors really gives the card a different feel. Give it a try and let me know how your's turns out!

Hello my friends... my apologies for the lack of recent activity on my blog, but life has been hectic. Among many other happenings, we have finally moved my husband's business to a new location (it's a pet store of course!) But I did have a chance to get away for a weekend at a craft hideaway up on Camano Island, a truly beautiful place where we were pampered while we crafted all weekend long! I will be sharing some of my creations from that weekend with you over the next few days, but tonight I have another Shirley's 2 girls challenge to show you.... and of course there are some tails involved!

So here is my creation for the S2G twisted Thursday Sketch Challenge. The twist this week was to use the word BOO, so I reached for one of my new arrivals from the recent Halloween release. Can't ya just hear this trio yelling "BOO" from their perch on the fence? Napo the cat (short for Napolean) watched me make this card, and gave some help with the ribbon too;)

This was a very simple card to make. I just found the Eerie paper pad from basic grey yesterday, and thought the tree background would be perfect for this card. I stamped the kitties on SU white paper and colored with copic markers, then used nesties to cut the circle of bats. I finished it off with some SU ribbon, and of course some "bling" with the jewel brads. Napo and I had lots of fun making this card!

Time for another Shirley's 2 girls twisted thursday sketch challenge! The twist this week is to use a punch. I used my scallop and circle punches to make the flower on this Mazie pink bug card. You go girl!

Reinker spread

This coming weekend is my Mom's 87th birthday, so it was time to come up with a special card for her. She loves flowers, and as a child I remember her rose bushes in the back yard. They were always so pretty in the summer! So, I decided to make the flower on this card similar to the colors I remember in her favorite rose. To make the flower, I used a fun technique that I learned on Splitcoaststampers called reinker spread. I believe it was something that was demonstrated at an SU regional.

This technique works best using SU's shimmery white paper. I stamped the flower from SU's Fifth Avenue Floral set and embossed in white. Then spritzed with water until it pooled inside the image. Next, use an aquabrush to pick up just a drop of reinker and then touch it to the water.... and watch the color spread. So much fun!

To finish off, I used the Fifth Avenue embossing folder for the background and used the lace border punch on the rose cardstock across the center. I like how it turned out, so I hope Mom does to!

Twisted Thursday Challenge

Time for another Shirley's two girls twisted Thursday challenge! This week's challenge was to add 4 brads to the sketch. Since I just received my order from the Mazie new release, I decided to I had to try my new images... so... Peace Dog got the call! Ya gotta love this peace lovin pooch, don't ya? I colored him him with my copics, and matched him up with some paper from the DCWV pocket full of posies pack, and added some crystal effects for just a touch of bling. Hope you like him!

Lots of Farm Fun

A fun Weekend of family and fun!

Last weekend we had a shower for my very pregnant Niece. Her Mom sent me a pic of the farm themed quilt she picked out for the nursery, and that gave me the inspiration for making this scrapbook. She had posted pics of herself as her tummy grew on facebook, so I printed them out and put them all in the book for her. It was my first time using my bind it all.... I had lots of fun!

I also thought it would be cute to decorate some storage jars and fill them with necessities like cotton balls, lotions, etc. I think they turned out rather cute! I used my bigshot and hand punches to create the shapes out of chipboard, then painted them.

The latest stamps I have fallen in love with are from a company called Shirleys 2 girls. They have a whimsical style I just love, and the cutest cat and dog stamps, which really gives them kudos in my book. They have a sketch challenge on their blog every week called twisted Thursday. So I decided to squeek in under the wire on this weeks challenge. The twist was to use polka dots, so here is the card I made. I just love the attitude of Schnapps - my kind of guy!

I must admit that when it has come to being "in" with technology, I have been dragging my feet just a bit. When I finally started a facebook account, my brother posted a comment on my wall welcoming me to the 20th century! So I thought what the heck, might as well dive in all the way.... and so, here is my new stamping blog!

Those who have visited my home to stamp, know that there is no shortage of helpers - the furry kind with four paws and tails that tend to get in the way when they help. And so, the name of my blog is dedicated to these 4 helpers with their 4 helpful tails and 16 paws... they provide many tales to be told in my stamping room!
